Our Vision

At Refuge, our vision is to be a church that disciples believers, taking them through the Word of God verse by verse so we can learn how to love Him and one another while walking in the power of the Holy Spirit and having a personal responsibility for the great commission.

Jesus gave us clarity about how we are to live when He said...

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. (35) By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

How did Jesus love them? How does Jesus love us? That's what's new. Paul tells us how He loves us when he writes, "Husbands love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it" (Ephesians 5:25). The newness and the fullness of this new commandment is that it was a self-sacrificing love. Jesus gave Himself for us, because He loved us. And that’s the kind of love we’re to have, as He has loved us.

And then Jesus said....

"...All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (19) Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen." Matthew 28:18-20

So how do we plan on reaching our community? First we do it one person at a time. Second we stay focused on those in our immediate community. Third, duplicate steps one and two throughout San Luis Obispo County and beyond.
