Year of Biblical Literacy
This year we invite you to join us for the Year of Biblical Literacy ~ a collaborative initiative to immerse ourselves in Scripture to better understand and experience the presence, character, and way of Jesus!
What is YOBL?
Quick Overview
* It’s a personal scripture reading plan designed to immerse you daily in the Bible’s story, so that you may understand and experience the presence, character, and way of Jesus. Starting Jan. 1, 2024, you’ll be using the Bible Project’s reading plan (download free app) to begin this personal/transformational journey.
* It’s a small group curriculum designed to engage a community of people in the Bible’s story together throughout the year.
Getting Ready to begin
The Word of God alone has the power to radically transform, save, instruct, challenge & equip us for life. 2nd Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
In an effort to encourage the Refuge SLO family towards a passion for God, theological understanding, and a fruitful life – This will be our Year of Biblical Literacy!
Step 3 - Watch
The Bible is a profound and prophetic book that tells one complete story from beginning to end. It is also a long book written out of chronological order, which can make it intimidating. The Bible Project is all about exploring the entire biblical narrative by breaking it up into short animated videos that help you understand the structure and themes of the Bible. The videos are embedded in the Read Scripture app but you can check out more here. (Bible Videos)
Step 4 - Discuss
Along the way we'll encourage everyone to discuss what their reading in small group settings. Jesus gathered with His disciples in community and we want to do the same. (Discussion Questions)
